Client IKEA*
*This is a fictional product created as a graduate project.
This was one of my graduate assignments from my Bachelor of Communication Design at RMIT. For this project, we were tasked to choose a cultural icon, in this case IKEA, reflect on a behaviour of society, and combine the two as an interesting commentary.
KÄRLEK (meaning love in Swedish) is a fictional product from IKEA, teaching people how to find love, make a connection and maintain that connection. I created a step-by-step guide highlighting the need for human interaction and connection, as wells as the naivete of online dating.
There are a lot of things in this modern world that are quite easy to obtain, but relationships are not one of them. Technology has changed the way we live but also how we build connections. As I am no relationship expert, I looked into the intelligent research and methods of WikiHow. Especially in the wake of AI advancements, something that can never be taught or broken down to a scientific procedure is human connection.
